Shooting games are often slapped with an 18 certificate. If they’re lucky, tone down on swearing and maybe a little less blood, they might just land themselves at a 15 and open the sales door to a whole load more people (not that that ever stop idiot parents buying their young kids adult games anyway.) Nintendo, not often a developer associated with shooting games (outside of the stunning Metroid Prime series) has recently released its take on the third person shooting genre; Splatoon.
Splatoon is a game where your bullets are paint. You maneuver around the maps by traversing through ink of your team’s colour for faster movement. The objective of the game is to cover the majority of the map in your team’s colour. The enemy is constantly trying to paint over it and kill you to prevent you from slowing their progress down. The game has exceeded expectations and continues to do well in a number of regions.
