Different people look at games differently. Some see them as a form of entertainment, which entertains for a limited amount of time and then ends. Others see where the game came from, and what it means.
Video games are becoming mainstream now. Like anything which becomes mainstream, it has to have had come from somewhere that was not mainstream, this means games used to be something special, something that doesn’t come along often. Also, the fact that video games are actually becoming mainstream means that they are worthy of being mainstream, that they hold enough clout in society to be recognised for what they are and what they were.
Many people don’t realise it yet but video games actually hold a creative love that is only found in the greatest examples of art and literature throughout history. Games such as Metal Gear Solid and Ocarina of Time were made in such a way, in a certain time period, that they can not be recreated. Not least in a medium that bows to mainstream thinking and service.
