When it comes to the PlayStation 4 Pro it’s the perfect next-step, at least for Sony. While it is a new console, it’s not the next-generation gaming machine in the same way Microsoft’s Project Scorpio is set to be. Rather it’s a happy medium, with the ability to support 4K gaming @60fps and deliver a smoother VR experience.
With the PlayStation 4 Pro, Sony is trying to compete with PC gaming. This is a place that Microsoft has a large stake in, and is designing their future consoles and games towards. Whether Sony will have any considerable impact on this market is yet to be seen, especially considering PC is by far the best format for VR gaming, and that a large majority of highly rated PS4 games are available on PC already.
In the end the PS4 Pro is a good choice, providing you don’t already own a standard PlayStation 4. But if you already own one of these, it’s worth waiting until the next generation or if you can’t wait, consider buying a gaming PC.
